Did you know that Sudden Cardiac Arrest claims the lives of more than 300 children and young adults annually in Michigan? It’s the leading cause of death for student athletes and most don’t even know that they are at risk.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is what happens when the heart stops beating, suddenly and unexpectedly.
Are you at risk?
Many steps for preventing Sudden Cardiac Arrest have been identified, beginning with increasing public awareness of risk factors, cardiac symptoms, and appropriate actions, including CPR and the use of defibrillators (AEDs).
Additionally, conducting student heart checks and ensuring schools are prepared with an Cardiac Emergency Response Plan is critical.
